The Gift of Green- Hosting a plant distribution drive in Coimbatore

Dr. Nanditha Srinivasan plant and nature conservation enthusiast

Sharing my love for plants with those interested in growing plants in the heart of Coimbatore city.

Sharing abundance is the way of a harmonious community- and that is what I did. As I grow many plants myself, I got the idea of gifting plants to others to not only encourage them to experience the joys of a home garden but also a plant to help them take the first step towards becoming a plant parent.

Preparing for the plant distribution drive

Selecting healthy plants from my personal garden, I repotted them in up cycled pots repurposed from old ice cream tubs

(I’m a fan of sustainability and reducing waste, so this was a good opportunity for another DIY)

Then, I packed up the precious cargo in tote bags to distribute them to fellow plant enthusiasts.

And the results- everyone loved it!!

Not only was it a chance to adopt and take home a plant, but it was also a gathering to discuss gardening, swapping tips and learning about the importance of connecting with nature in urban cities.

I’ll definitely be organising many more plant distribution drives like this one to connect with my local community and also highlight the importance of nurturing nature around us.
